The Arlington High School Band Booster Club will be raising funds this season at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The Ballpark has turned out to be a tremendous fund raiser to all of the band members and it really is a lot of fun for the students and adult volunteers.

What do we do?
This season the AHSBBC provides a stand manager, two TABC certified cashiers and 5-7 additional workers to sell hot dogs, bags of peanuts, nachos, soft drinks and beer at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. We will be staffing all home games in April for the 2012 season. Our stand location is TBD.
Do I need any training?
No prior training is required to be a stand worker. Training is required only if you intend to be a cashier or stand manager.
When do I need to be there?
Workers are requested to report to the stand approximately 3 hours before game time to help set up the stand. Gates normally open two hours before game time. For a normal 7:05pm game time, workers are asked to be at the stand at 4pm.
How do I get in?
Your game day manager will contact you a day or more in advance to ensure you have a worker badge to enter the ballpark and a uniform hat (if available). If you don’t receive your uniform hat before the game, it will be provided to you when you arrive at the stand. Unless a gate attendant is available near the Diamond Club entrance, most likely you’ll need to enter the ballpark at the home plate entrance.
When do I leave?
The stand normally closes at the end of the 8th inning and begins the cleanup and inventory process. Once the stand (including pans, utensils, countertops, etc) are clean and the inventory is put up, workers are dismissed. This closing process normally takes between 45-60 minutes. For a normal three hour game which ends at about 10pm, most workers would be out between 10:30 and 11:00pm. It is necessary for the manager to stay 30-40 minutes later than the workers in order to complete inventory count, turn in the cash bank and return uniform shirts.
What do I wear?
Workers are requested to wear long khaki shorts or khaki pants, close toed shoes (preferably tennis shoes). Workers are provided a blue uniform shirt and uniform hat by their manager which must be worn while working at the stand. Short khaki shorts, jeans, sandals, open toed shoes and backless shoes are not permitted. Shirts should be tucked in.
Please remember to return your uniform shirt and hat to your manager at the conclusion of the game.
Where do I park?
Stadium Parking is graciously offering free parking for AHSBBC workers at the Galactic Parking Lot, which is located at 1903 Stadium Oaks Ct.(look for the blue “Galactic” sign immediately south of the intersection of Stadium Drive and Chapman Cutoff). Please tell the parking attendant that you are with the AHS Band and park near the rear of the lot.

Who can work?
Persons ages 16 and older can work at our stand. However, only persons with appropriate training and a valid TABC certificate can handle open containers of and serve alcohol. Minors are not permitted to handle open or closed containers of beer at the ballpark, so their duties are limited to cooking and/or food prep.
Other things to keep in mind
- Please volunteer to help out and keep your commitment. If your employment is such that you really can’t depend on getting off work in order to keep your commitment, don’t sign up to work at the ballpark on a work day.
- If you can work during the work week but are unable to be at the ballpark at the required report time, please tell your manager ahead of time so he/she can plan accordingly, but don’t let your inability to be at the ballpark at 4pm be the reason you don’t help out. As long as we have enough people to help set up, one or two late arrivals is usually not a big deal, provided they can be there before the rush hits (which is usually about 30 minutes to an hour before game time).
- There is no smoking while in a worker uniform.
- Cell phone use is prohibited at the stand. If you need to make or receive a call, please do so during a break from our store room after your manager releases you for a break.
- Worker badges are not to be used to enter the Ballpark for any reason other than to work at our stand. In addition, workers are not permitted to sit in the stands during a game to watch the game (even during a break).
What if I want to help sell beer or cashier?
You will need to take free training offered at the Ballpark by Delaware North Companies. Please contact Terri Newton with any questions or to sign up for training, or visit the AHS Band Booster Club Website (Ballpark Info page) for training times. If you don’t have a current TABC certificate, or if your certificate is about to expire (they are good for 2 years), you will need a 4-hour training class. If you have a current certificate, you will need to take a 1-hour Delaware North Companies class which is a refresher class that also discusses rules particular to the Ballpark.
I’d like to become a stand manager. What is involved?
We need managers. The daily duties of a manager include ensuring that inventory is properly counted before and after the event, and ensuring the bank and deposit are properly handled and accounted for. The manager also ensures that the stand maintains the proper amount of inventory during the event. The manager arrives about 1 hour before the rest of the workers and leaves shortly after (about 30 minutes, usually), the other workers. For more information, please contact Terri Newton (terrinewton@sbcglobal.net).
Training required of managers is a free 4-hr training class (for new managers), plus a 4-hr TABC certification class. Please visit the Ballpark Info page of the AHS Band Website for more information (www.ahsbbc.com) or contact Terri Newton.
